The Devil
The chains are loose enough to lift off.
The imagery
A horned, bat-winged figure crouches on a pedestal above two unclothed figures with small horns and tails, chained by the neck. Look closely and the chains hang loose; they could slip free at any time. An inverted pentagram glows overhead, and the scene shows how we bind ourselves to what diminishes us, often believing we have no choice.
Upright
attachment · shadow · temptation · habit · materialism
The Devil shines a light on what has a hold on you: a habit, a relationship dynamic, a fear, an addiction to approval or to comfort. Seeing it clearly is not a reason for shame; it is the beginning of freedom. Notice where you feel stuck and ask whether the chain is as tight as it seems. You have more power to walk away than you have been told.
Reversed
release · freedom · reclaiming power · breaking patterns
You are beginning to break free. Patterns that once controlled you are losing their grip, and you are reclaiming your energy and choices. This can feel exhilarating and wobbly at the same time. Keep going, be patient with relapses and celebrate every link you loosen.
In love
Notice where intense attraction or attachment may be crossing into dependency or control. Passion is wonderful when both people remain free.
In work
Ask whether ambition, money or a sense of obligation is keeping you somewhere that no longer serves you. Freedom may be closer than you think.
Advice
Name the one pattern that drains you most. Then take one small step that proves to yourself you can choose differently.
